All new sites offer initial traffic support and low commission rates, and also support the ”Sell Across” cross-site feature—a single backend management system that allows products to be listed simultaneously in multiple countries.
Many sellers assume that TikTok Shop in Europe works the same way as domestic stores—that they can simply register, open a store, and start selling. This assumption is completely off the mark in Europe.
The EU's e-commerce tax compliance rules explicitly require:Cross-border sellers who sell goods in EU member states must complete VAT registration locally (or through the OSS system) and file tax returns on a quarterly or monthly basis.
At the platform level, TikTok Shop requires sellers opening stores on its European sites to submit a valid local VAT number. If you do not have a VAT number:
-Failed to Pass the Seller Qualification Review(Registration on some country-specific sites is blocked outright)
-The product cannot be displayed or sold in that country.
-Your account may be throttled or suspended.
| nations | registration cycle | Difficulty Level of Required Materials | note |
| German | 6–10 weeks | ★★★★☆ | Strict review process; notarized documents required; covers German-speaking regions |
| French | 4-8 weeks | ★★★☆☆☆ | French-language materials are required |
| Italy | 6–12 weeks | ★★★★☆ | Longest processing time, most thorough review |
| Spanish | 4-6 weeks | ★★★☆☆☆ | A representative must be designated |
| Polish | 4-8 weeks | ★★★☆☆☆ | New site; documentation requirements must comply with EU standards |
| the Netherlands | 4-6 weeks | ★★☆☆☆☆ | Relatively user-friendly, with a quick registration process |
| Austrian | 6–8 weeks | ★★★☆☆☆ | German system; please refer to German requirements |
OSS (One-Stop Shop) Mechanism: Sellers who are already registered for VAT in any EU member state can use the OSS to file their VAT obligations for other EU countries through a single system; however, they must still obtain a separate VAT registration number for each country where they sell in order to open a store on the platform.

Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria are all covered by the EU’s EPR regulatory framework.
What is EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) registration?
To sell packaging, electronics, batteries, and textiles in Europe, you must complete EPR registration in the country of sale and pay product waste disposal fees.
Germany and France have already implemented this requirement, while new markets such as Poland and Austria are gradually moving forward with it. The TikTok Shop platform has begun verifying EPR information as part of its product listing eligibility checks.
Sellers without EPR registration,Products may be delisted by the platform or may be unable to clear customs to enter local warehouses in Europe.
The new site is currently experiencing a traffic boom, making this the best time to get involved.
However, VAT registration takes at least four weeks, and EPR applications typically take 2–4 weeks. If you start preparing now, you can complete the qualification process by early August at the earliest, just in time for the tail end of the summer peak season on the European marketplace.
Recommended Procedure:
| move | Operation content | Time Required |
| Step 1 | Identify the target sales country and gather the documents required for VAT registration | 1-3 days |
| Step 2 | Submit a VAT registration application (we recommend prioritizing Germany and France) | 4–10 weeks |
| Step 3 | Simultaneously apply for EPR registration in the destination country (required for packaging) | 2-4 weeks |
| Step 4 | Complete the submission of your TikTok Shop store eligibility application and upload your VAT number | Within 1 week |
| Step 5 | Product Listing: Launching Content Field Test | Ongoing after launch |
