Lately, a lot of international students have been asking me: “I’ve just graduated and have no work experience—can I find a job in Guangzhou and get a work visa?”
The answer is: Yes! But the materials and process are completely different from those for domestic graduates. I’ve put together a guide specifically for recent graduates, clearly explaining the key points of ”applying even without experience” 👇

International recent graduates who do not have two years of work experience,You cannot apply directly for Category B.The
However, there are two alternative paths:
⚠️Option 1: Earn at least 60 points → Apply for a Category B work permit
✅ Points can be earned based on educational background, university rankings, Chinese language proficiency, age, and salary
✅ Master’s degree + prestigious university + basic Chinese proficiency—that’s generally enough to meet the requirements.
⚠️Path 2: Master’s Degree Graduates → Direct Application for Category C
✅ No work experience required
✅ No points required
✅ However, spots are limited, and some cities have already tightened their policies.
Recommendation: If you can qualify for Category B, go for Category B; Category C is your safety net. The specific points table will be included later!

💡 Key to the Points Table: How to Reach 60 Points?
| sports event | Points | Tips for Recent Graduates |
|---|---|---|
| Education | Up to 20 points | A master's degree is generally sufficient; for a bachelor's degree, other requirements must be met. |
| School Rankings | Maximum 10 points | Bonus points for universities ranked in the QS Top 100 and 985/211 partner institutions |
| Proficiency in Chinese | Maximum 10 points | HSK Level 4 passing score; Level 6 maximum score |
| (a person's) age | Up to 15 points | The ideal age range is 18–30; the sooner you apply, the better. |
| Salary | Up to 20 points | Guangzhou benchmark: 15,000 per month; the higher the score, the more you earn |
| Work Experience | Up to 20 points | Recent GraduatesNone, making up for it with other items |
| (sth. or sb) else | Up to 5 points | Outstanding Graduates, Patents, Awards, etc. |
Strategy: Master’s degree (15–20 points) + Graduation from a prestigious university (5–10 points) + HSK Level 4 (5 points) + Age under 30 (15 points) + Salary meets the requirement (10 points) = That's basically enough for a 60.
What should I do if I don't score 60 points? Apply directly through the Category C master’s graduate track, or improve your Chinese language skills to secure a higher-paying job offer.
🎯Pitfall 1: Treating Internship Experience as Work Experience
🎯Pitfall 2: Waiting Too Long to Obtain a Certificate of No Criminal Record
🎯Pitfall 3: School Certificate Issued by the Wrong Department
🎯Pitfall 4: The company doesn’t know how to write a ”must-hire” report
🎯Pitfall 5: 30 days after entry isn't enough
Gathering the required documents was really a pain, especially getting the dual certification for my criminal record check—it was time-consuming, expensive, and a real hassle 🦵
But if you map out the process and get everything ready at once, you can really save a lot of time! Plus,The New Graduate Program Offers Policy Benefits...After working for a few years, you may actually find it harder to qualify for Category C, and the point requirements will also be higher.
My suggestion:
I wish you all the best with your applications, and see you in China! ✨
